Regufe Recreative Group - Sports NGO
Sport organization
The Regufe area was an old place in Póvoa de Varzim with a name of Sueva origin, derived from Rec + wolf (wolf). The place was an agricultural and cattle raising area, but whose fields and bouças were gradually taken over by houses and buildings. In certain areas of the neighborhood it is still possible to observe this type of ancient experience, especially on the border with the municipality of Vila do Conde.

The Regufe Recreativo Group is a non-profit youth association based in four main areas: Culture, Sport, Social Action and Youth. We are an organization that creates opportunities for young people who would like to be more active, try to learn something new and gain new experiences. We want to enrich the educational, social and cultural life of young people living in our country.

In Culture, the highlight is the São Pedro Festivities with traditional dances, music and food. Many people go to the place where festivities take place to participate in this great festive meeting that promotes communication between residents and foreigners.

In Football, GR Regufe is divided into 5 teams, from the youngest to the oldest, over 130 athletes who train and compete each week. Also in sport we bet on table tennis with more than 65 registered athletes who daily train to compete on the weekend, also in athletics where we have more than 45 athletes.

On a social level, we help those in need, with food and basic necessities, which we collect and deliver on demand. We developed the project “Doing Good in Regufe”, a social project to support the Regufe Neighborhood, marked by the inclusion of minorities, needy people, single-parent families, disabled people, etc.

We believe that young people should become a driving force in building the society in which they live, and therefore we have created several opportunities to help shape a generation determined to change our country.

It is also worth noting the size of all partners that contribute daily to the success of GR Regufe. The partnerships with the Póvoa de Varzim City Council, the Póvoa de Varzim Youth House, the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, the Federation of Youth Associations of the District of Porto, the Academic Federation of Porto, among other institutional partners, as well as the institutional partnerships partnership with many other youth associations and institutions at local, regional, national and international levels.

The GR Regufe team is an experienced team in the organization and management of events and in the development of skills in the people it deals with on a daily basis. organization of multiple activities at local and national level in various areas ranging from youth-related projects to recreational events. In addition, his participation in Erasmus + projects, in which non-formal education methodologies were the education model, means that he has developed skills in the areas of communication, management, leadership and motivation of teams that are important for the success of the activities that organization develops daily.
The GR Regufe team also has members who, due to their vast experience in associations and participation in Erasmus + projects, make them an asset to the project, an example of which are the elements belonging to the association's youth group.

In addition to this group, it is considered that the social action group of the association will be an asset in the development of the project due to its experience in the project "Doing Good in Regufe".
However, we consider that all elements of the association's governing bodies are important elements for the sustained development of the project due to the team cohesion and spirit of mutual assistance existing within the association.

The project also includes the inclusion of successful cases of the work developed by the association, such as Vladislav Chernets, a young Ukrainian orphan at the age of 18, who is inserted in a support institution and the Regufe Recreational Group complements the training of this young man with traditional dances and sport, being an important factor in the youth's growth and sustainable development, as well as António Rodrigues, a young man who at 13 years old was orphaned and who, through the social project of the Recreativo de Regufe Group, managed to complete his studies and succeed, nowadays, have financial independence and work for the Royal Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Póvoa de Varzim.

GR Regufe considers that this experience of organizing an Erasmus+ project is an asset for all members for the development of skills and knowledge as well as considering this to be the first international step for members of the association.
